The owners of this property had a design in mind for one space within their new home.
This was a new home with 3 floors, expansive views of the beach, use of raw and modern materials and a modern minimalist style.
Due to the open plan, large walls were made available to create and tie in all the elements of the interior and exterior.
The client’s specific colour within the artwork was red and this became the base within the colour palette of the artworks.
Given the structure of the materials used, this also was the criterion that had to be included.
Concepts were created of all the artworks taking in the artistic brief and scale. This would make a statement in itself but still encompass all the features.
In the open plan areas, the idea was to create a theme that would carry you through the home as the artworks were evolving and the home revealing itself. This also had to reflect the client’s lifestyle.
Artwork One
This chosen artwork set the scene for what was to come, with a sense of scale and the supporting nature and height of the artwork. This artwork spanned 2 storeys and scaled correctly, suited the space intended. With the main focus being on the colour red, the other contributing elements of the artwork had neutral tones throughout with visual characteristics showing height and support to the entry of the home.
Artwork 2, 3: This was interesting as to create something to extend from the artwork and yet have that artistic element. Handmade polished tiles that have a 3D effect were included. These were colour matched to the walls while having the polished element added completing the area required.
Artwork 4, 5: These amazing artworks had a continuous flowing element from the entry that lead into the common rooms and open plan area of the home. With all the given criterion available to us and the minimalist clean lines approach to architecture, the concept was to add balance with organic style shapes and flowing harmonious lines adding highlighted colours. The result was powerful free flowing concept with the additions of the internal and externals, revealing itself while walking through the main concourse sets the standard and story of what is to come and heightens the expectation within the home while allowing the viewer to have a sense of free flowing movement. This truly is a feast for the eyes.
Wall 6: An existing style chosen by the clients incorporating the aqua colour that had to lead from the main hallway with artwork 4 & 5 as well as neutral tones within the common area and the aqua colour given due to the splash back in the kitchen.
Wall 8: The Master Bedroom has an aubergine colour in the cabinets that sets the tone within the space, with expansive views of the ocean. The artwork created was of a wave incorporating sunset colours with added highlights sweeping over the canvas and the aubergine undertones to great effect. As a diptych, the composed colour palette gives the viewer a harmonious feeling within the space and extending to the outer.
All artworks were original hand signed, dated by Bill Sayers, on canvas and framed. All raw products were either imported from America or Australian. Designed, and manufactured in Australia specifically by an Australian company Sayers Art & Design, headed by Bill Sayers and Hans Langeder within their Melbourne studio and gallery.
